Location: Cowskin Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant; 4182 N 135th St West Maize, Kansas

Description: Activated Sludge is the heart of most mechanical treatment plants in Kansas.

This course will include:

  • An introduction to the conversion and separation processes for removing the following pollutants:
    • Ammonia
    • Biochemical Oxygen Demand
    • Total Suspended Solids
  • An overview of basic nutrient removal processes
  • Resources for pinpointing causes of non-compliance
  • A tour of the City of Wichita’s Cowskin Creek Biological Nutrient Removal facility
