Description: Are you at risk? Do you know of impending asset failure before it impacts the utility? Did you know that when a mechanical failure occurs during operation, it often results in additional damage, parts, and costs? Wouldn’t it be better to have an effective strategy and to know of impending failures early enough to properly take care of the issue safely and with less impact to the operation?

In this webinar, we will discuss the approach of asset management and reliability. Focusing on a basic level of understanding of concepts and how they apply to water utilities, this webinar will demonstrate the value potential of approaching maintenance differently.

It is possible to improve your strategy, mitigate risk, improve safety, lower costs, and improve the quality of life of operators and maintainers simultaneously. The implementation of asset management, maintenance, and reliability best practices results in a more reliable operation.

Presenter: George Williams, Founder and CEO, ReliabilityX

Certificate: This webinar has NOT been submitted for continuing education credit approval. We can provide a certificate of attendance to eligible attendees but cannot guarantee it will meet your PDH or CEU requirements.

Who Should Attend:

  • Managers, owners, and operators of water systems, both large and small
  • Decision-makers for water and wastewater utilities, including mayors, finance officers, utility managers, public works directors, city councilors, board members, tribal council members, and clerks
  • Operations and maintenance staff responsible for the reliable operation of the utility

Description: Do you know where all of your assets are? Does your utility have accurate system maps? Do you have a systematic plan for keeping your maps current? Do you use your maps for data analysis, capital improvement planning and water loss control? Do you know what event and asset data you should be collecting? If you answered “no” to any of these questions, this workshop is for you. We will examine different electronic mapping platforms and data collection options, and review case studies to show the positive impact that a mapping program can have on your utility.

Learning Objectives:

  • Techniques, tools, and examples for developing and building electronic maps that will tell you much more than simply where things are
  • Collecting and analyzing asset and event data –such as pipe break data– to generate probability of failure which is the first part of criticality, and how to add consequences to the analysis
  • Tracking your O&M activities using mapping platforms
  • How mapping can be leveraged to develop simple Capital Improvement Plans
  • Developing an asset valuation for your system using mapping techniques
  • Using maps and data collection as part of your water loss control activities

Description: You work hard to provide safe, quality drinking water to your customers at fair rates. Many asset management decisions are made by upper management, but what does asset management mean to a small system operator? This training will show you how asset management best practices come into play in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a water utility and teach you more about utility finance, how to track and benchmark financial performance, how rates and level of service go together, and how decisions in the field are part of a greater asset management strategy. You will learn about these topics through examples from real small systems. This workshop will provide you with the tools and knowledge to improve the fiscal health of your utility without compromising service or deferring maintenance.

Learning Objectives:

  • See asset management as it exists in the field
  • Track information in the field to improve your utility asset management strategy
  • Benchmark financial performance against other utilities
  • Plan for future capital costs
